Hello,
There are cases when the Center becomes too wide, covering two areas on the Offering Map. In this situation, the vendor will eventually be torn apart by the two distinct required business approaches. As a result, in order to survive, the vendor must reduce the coverage of its Center by deleting ofmos from its portfolio (delete offerings and/or markets). One well-known example of such a move was seen in IBM's sale of its PC unit to Lenovo. Do you know other similar cases?
Note: Deciding which side of the Center to adjust depends on where the Focus is positioned. For more info on this see the chapter 7. The Ofmos Portfolio Focus and 8. The Ofmos Portfolio Alignment.
